HCC: French Revolution

The French are on the brink of disaster. The streets of Paris erupt with flames of revolution, the monarchy collapses under the weight of debt and dissatisfaction, and forces calling for equality, liberty, and an end to tyranny tear apart society at its very core. What started out as a political crisis has turned into a total chaos of order, with alliances changing as fast as the guillotine.

In this committee, delegates will be at the heart of the French Revolution, navigating the chaos of a nation in flux. The monarchy clings to its existence, radical groups like the Jacobins and Girondins fight for power, and the National Assembly struggles over constitutional reforms. In the meantime, counter-revolutionary movements simmer beneath the surface, foreign powers observe with apprehension, and the populace demands justice.

Will France experience further destruction and factional conflict, or will the Revolution deliver on its promise of a new republic? Can the monarchy be changed, or is it doomed to fail? Every choice will have an impact on history as conflict looms closer and the threat of the guillotine becomes increasingly apparent.

Ambition and anxiety permeate the air. No one is safe from the blade of the Revolution, and the shout of the populace shudders the Assembly's walls. There is a new order that is destroying the Old World; you have to create it or be destroyed by it. What sort of France will come out of the flames is no longer the question. Will you live long enough to witness it, is the question.
